Here’s the official synopsis:
Jane Austen’s beloved comedy about finding your equal and earning your happy ending, is reimagined in this delicious new film adaptation of Emma. Handsome, clever, and rich, Emma Woodhouse is a restless queen bee without rivals in her sleepy little town. In this glittering satire of social class and the pain of growing up, Emma must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along.
Taking on the classical character of Emma Woodhouse is Anya Taylor-Joy and this queen bee is having plenty of fun here. Played with a serious smirk by Taylor-Joy, young Emma appears to be up for a bit of mischief and director Autumn de Wilde will lead her into plenty of it at every turn in this fabulous adaptation.
Performance, costuming, costume design, narrative and music all come together to craft something gorgeous here in Emma, and the subject matter and its exploration of themes such as youthful hubris and mismatched love, mixed in with it’s loud style, is sure to be a hit with audiences.
Emma will arrive in cinemas next year with plenty of pop and colour on February 13, 2020.
