Alan Ritchson talks ‘Jack Reacher’ Amazon series
Amazon Prime is fast becoming the place to be for original content, and one of their most exciting upcoming series will be a long-form adaptation of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series.
Last year we learnt that rising star Alan Ritchson (Titans) had been cast to talk on the role of ex-military policeman and wandering hero Jack Reacher, and he’s now opened up about what audiences can expect to see from the upcoming series.
As reported by MovieWeb, Ritchson opened up on the series saying, “I don’t know how much I can say. I’ll say that we’re gonna be doing a book a season, so the first season will be the first book. I think that’s such a great way to do this. I can see why it’d be exciting as a film, but the slow burn is what I love so much about the books. The way that he goes down the checklist and picks apart these cases, you need time. It’s okay to enjoy that. I think spending a season on each book is gonna be really enjoyable for audiences.”
With this statement it’s pretty clear that Season One of Jack Reacher will adapt 1997’s Killing Floor, a bone-crunching brutal read that first introduced audiences to Child’s tough-as-nails vigilante and this will no doubt make for some solid television.
At 6’2 and 220 pounds, Ritchson should convincingly be able to showcase the required physicality of character such as Jack Reacher, and given his solid work in series such as Titans, which have shown that he has developed into a serious dramatic actor, we should get a performer who not only fits the part in terms of physicality but who will build out a compelling and strong heroic character.
While we have no official start date yet, the promise of a Jack Reacher series is something to really get excited about and will join a list of awesome upcoming shows including adaptations of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time and a new exploration of J.R.R> Tolkien’s The Second Age in The Lord of the Rings, a multi-season fantasy series that is set to be the biggest blockbuster television series of all-time thanks to its immense budget and cast.
Jack Reacher is set to arrive on Amazon Prime in 2022.
